A new sports-themed restaurant is on tap for lower Bricktown, and it features the name of a local superstar.
Kevin Durant is the latest athlete to lend his name to a restaurant in Bricktown.
The new restaurant will be approximately 10,000-square-foot, is being developed by Randy Hogan, and will be managed by the Hal Smith Restaurant Group, according to reports.
The Hal Smith Group also manages "Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill," which sits just to the east of the new restaurant.
Jerry Nance was walking along the canal near the soon-to-be restaurant when he heard the news. Nance didn't consider himself a basketball fan, but did know who Durant was. His lack of Thunder fanaticism won't keep him away from the new establishment though.
"I like to eat," Nance said. "I'm always checkin' out new restaurants."
The restaurant still needs approval from the Oklahoma City Urban Renewal Authority, and is scheduled for discussion on April 18.
Reports have a groundbreaking for the restaurant in late April, with the establishment possibly open by the 2012-2013 NBA season.
