The Department of Defense says an Oklahoma soldier has died as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
In a news release, the Army says Specialist James E. Dutton, 25, Checotah died on Saturday, March 31, 2012 in Logar Province, Afghanistan.
Specialist Dutton was part of the 125th Brigade Support Battalion, stationed out of Fort Bliss, Texas.
According to a 2006 article in the Muskogee Phoenix newspaper, James Dutton graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in South Carolina.
Dutton is the son of James and Trina Dutton of Checotah and graduated from Weleetka High School in 2006.
