An Enid couple was arrested after a toddler was rushed to the hospital Tuesday morning. Police say the child had possibly ingested a bag of drugs.
The mother, 21-year-old Alexandra Winkler, was arrested and charged with child abuse.
Winkler and her boyfriend, 24-year-old Wyatt Gungoll, were also arrested on several drug charges after police discovered seven meth labs at their house, located in the 1700 block of E. Cedar Avenue.
Police received a call at around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday that Winkler's two-year-old child had possibly ingested a bag of drugs and was vomiting at that time. The child was rushed to the emergency room at St. Mary's Hospital, and had to be transported to Children's hospital in Oklahoma City due to the seriousness of his condition.
Enid police then served a search warrant at the couple's house where they discovered seven one-pot meth labs. They also found a large amount of precursors used in the manufacturing of methamphetamine.
"They could have continued to manufacture methamphetamine with the items that were located inside of the residence," Detective Sergeant Reddick said.
According to police, there were four labs in the attic and three labs in the utility room at the home. Officers discovered a syringe on the floor, and marijuana in numerous places in the house that a child could reach.
Police believe this was a very dangerous environment because of the chemicals and waste at the home. The narcotic officers had to wear special safety suits and self contained breathing equipment while they processed the scene, according to the police department.
The Department of Human Services took custody of the child. Winkler and Gungoll are being held without bond at the Garfield Detention Facility.
