OKLAHOMA CITY -- A line of storms swept through the metro early Friday morning, dumping much-needed rain but also bringing damaging winds to at least one southeast Oklahoma City neighborhood.
News 9's Kirsten McIntyre found a neighborhood in the 500 block of S.E. 47th Street with debris strewn across yards. The strong wind had blown the roof off one home. A lightweight shed was also overturned, and trash cans blown over by the winds littered the street.
It appeared the wind had also knocked down a stop sign and several trees.
News 9 Meteorologist Jed Castles says this kind of damage was not widespread. He says a bow echo moved through Oklahoma City, and the damage may have been caused by straight-line winds.
