OKLAHOMA CITY -- Tropical Storm Hermine could cause widespread flooding across the state today.
Hermine has moved into parts of Oklahoma and dumped buckets of rain in parts of Texas with sustained winds of 40 mph.
Rain will become more widespread through today as Hermine continues to track to the north. A flash flood watch has been issued for today through Thursday morning with heavy rain possible today into Thursday.
Because of the risk of flooding, leaders in Oklahoma City are urging people to be careful and stay away from flood prone areas.
"People who live in or around a flood plain or flood prone area should be hyper vigilant this week and prepared to evacuate to high ground on short notice," said Oklahoma City Emergency Manager Frank Barnes.
Rain chances will decrease Friday into Saturday to only 20 percent. But, as heavy rain and flooding are possible the next couple of days make sure to stay with NEWS 9, we'll keep you advised.
