OKLAHOMA CITY -- The state drug agent accused of smuggling guns to Mexico made a court appearance Tuesday morning and waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Francisco Reyes appeared in federal court with his new court appointed attorney by his side.

Three members of Reyes' family, possibly his mother, father and brother, were also in the courtroom.

No trial date has been set. A Federal Grand Jury still needs to hand down a formal indictment.

The judge told Reyes he has to keep in close contact with his attorney, Robert Wyatt.

Reyes is charged with several weapons violations.

Reyes resigned his position at the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics earlier this month and has been under house arrest.

On Tuesday, August 10, federal authorities arrested a second person in connection with a gun-smuggling scheme allegedly organized by Reyes. Gregorio Martinez Morales, 35, was taken into custody after agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) raided Morales' homes in Lewisville, Texas where they found weapons and cash, according to authorities.
