OKLAHOMA CITY -- It's been a week since flood waters filled homes in southwest Oklahoma City and homeowners will begin to get rid of their destroyed belongings today.
City crews began to pick up debris this morning from Lightening Creek.
Flood victims are asked to separate debris into three piles. One should be things like curtains, carpet, furniture and electronics. The second pile should be for refrigerators and anything containing coolant.
The third pile is for any hazardous waste.
The rain came down so fast in Lightning Creek that the creek overflowed two times in less than a week.
The flood took the life of one Oklahoma City teenager and left behind some serious damage.
Residents who do not live in the flooded area are asked to stay out of the area during the cleanup process. City crews are also asking that people not park on the streets.
