The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office has a man in custody in the death of another man who was brutally beaten and burned last week, and they are looking for additional suspects.
Deputies believe both the victim and his attackers were in the prison gang the United Aryan Brotherhood.
Sapulpa resident Cody Fulmer is in custody in the death of 23-year-old Jared Langworthy.
TCSO said their investigation began with a reported assault in the 5900 block of North Madison. Deputies were called to the area around 10:45 p.m. but found no victim, according to Deputy Justin Green. Green said EMSA was called to a home in the 6000 block of North Madison Friday morning where Langworthy was found badly beaten and burned.
He was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died of his injuries Saturday.
Green said Fulmer had been interviewed when TCSO initially responded to the assault call and was later brought in for questioning. Fulmer confessed to assaulting Langworthy and was arrested for assault with intent to kill, Green said.
After Langworthy's death, an additional murder charge was added.
Authorities said both the suspect and victim were associated with the United Aryan Brotherhood. Green said both Langworthy and Fulmer have extensive criminal histories.
"We were able to look back at the records that the jail and prison keep, and based on some of the intel we had like tattoos and that nature - we were able to ascertain that both of these people were affiliated with the Aryan Brotherhood," he said.
TCSO said they are looking for additional suspects but did not say how many people may have been involved.
