Burglars Strike 8 Homes in Southwest Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma City police are hoping to catch the crooks behind a rash of home and car burglaries.

At least 8 homes were hit in a neighborhood near SW 15 Street and Morgan Road.

Police said the suspects used a slim jim to open the cars, then used the garage door opener to get into the garages.

"If you're going to leave your car parked in front of your house, the best thing you can do is to make sure your garage door opener is not in that vehicle," Oklahoma Police MSgt. Gary Knight said.

Neighbors are hoping to establish a neighborhood watch program for protection.
