British farmers take root in Oklahoma

In a field north of Enid, harvest is coming to a close. As a red tractor cuts the last of the grain, two British brothers are fulfilling their dreams of harvesting a crop in America.

"We just love farming," Steven Clarke said.

Cutting the Oklahoma grain was just half of their dream. The other was to find the right tractor. It happened to be an old red Massey Ferguson combine, just like the one Stephen Clarke drove in his home country of England.

"We were passing through Oklahoma and brother happens to spy over the hedge the old Massey," Stephen Clarke said. "So, we pulled in and we met Delbert the farmer."

Delbert Joyner said he could recognize right-away the two brothers weren't Okies.

Helping Joyner harvest and take over 800 acres of wheat to market, the Clarke brothers said farming in Oklahoma is much like harvesting in England.

The brothers did however notice two differences.

"The people are much friendlier and the girls are just fantastic," Stephen Clarke said.

With the wheat finally harvested, the duo said they look forward to next year's wheat crop.
