Tulsa's largest soup kitchen and grocery pantry officially opened the doors to its new downtown facility on Monday.
Iron Gate's new 17,000 square foot facility has already served nearly 22,000 meals in just 30 days. Iron Gate serves meals to the community every day from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, offers groceries three times a week and hands out kids packs.
So far in the past month Iron gate has been giving out more than 720 plates of food a day, 3,000 bags of groceries and almost 1,000 kids packs.
After looking my for a new home for three years Iron Gate broke ground on this new downtown facility a year ago. The cafeteria area is now more than tripled in size from the old Iron Gate location.

“So when people come here they will have all put produce from the food bank, they can pick all that up. They can come through the pantry and self-select. Get the items that fit them and their family,” said Carrie Vesely-Henderson of Iron Gate.
Henderson says anyone in the community is welcome to come get a free meal and groceries. They don’t require any documentation.
