Tulsa Police are investigating a homicide after receiving a potential domestic abuse call.
Officers say they received a call after 10 p.m. on Monday night from a man who claimed he had strangled a woman and that she was dead. Police responded to the scene near 5th and Utica.
Police say the female victim was dead when they arrived. She has been identified as Cynthia Mayfield.
Police say the man who called was Brandon J. Smith and that he and the victim got into an argument that evening.
According to the arrest report, Smith told police the woman spit in his face, kicked him, and hit him with an object.
He claims that he "snapped" and that's when he choked her to death.
Smith is booked here in the Tulsa County Jail facing charges for second-degree murder and is being held without bond.
