Claremore Woman's Bomb Threat Sentencing Postponed

A federal judge was set Tuesday to sentence a Claremore woman for calling in bomb threats earlier this year. But now, Stephanie Montgomery will be sentenced in January.

A federal judge was set Tuesday to sentence a Claremore woman for calling in bomb threats earlier this year. But now, Stephanie Montgomery will be sentenced in January.

Montgomery pleaded guilty in September to calling in fake bomb threats to Claremore Public Schools.

Woman Arrested In Claremore Bomb Threat Charged With Terrorism Hoax

Police say the 48-year-old woman claimed there were numerous bombs in backpacks at the high school as well as bombs at the district's elementary schools.

The call prompted the district to shut down for the day while law enforcement searched each school.

Investigators tracked the threatening calls to Montgomery later that night and they say she confessed to making the fake threats, adding she did it to "test police."

Montgomery could face five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for the hoax.

And as part of her plea agreement. prosecutors say Montgomery will have to pay $12,000 to the agencies that helped investigate the false threat.

The payment will go to Claremore Police and Fire Departments as well as Tulsa Police and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
