Inspectors To Check All Rides Before Tulsa State Fair Opens

The Tulsa State Fair officially opens Thursday, but Wednesday, the Oklahoma Department of Labor will be at the midway at the fairgrounds, checking out every ride for safety.

State Labor Commissioner Melissa Houston will be in Tulsa Wednesday to talk about her department's role in amusement ride safety.

Earlier this month, Houston told News9 in Oklahoma City, this state goes further than most other states to triple check the safety of each ride.

She says along with a Department of Labor team, they hire two outside contractors to inspect every bolt, every restraint system and every seat on every ride.

The Tulsa State Fair opens at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 28th.
