Hearing Held For Tulsa Man Charged In Deadly Police Chase

A judge appointed a public defender Wednesday for 24-year-old Tulsa man charged with first-degree murder following a police chase from Sapulpa to Tulsa on May 24th.

Police said Jerry Newman led police on a chase which crossed a runway at Tulsa International Airport and ended with a fatal head-on crash on Highway 75 north of downtown.  

Newman fled after the crash and was arrested after a massive manhunt that afternoon.

A funeral was held Wednesday, May 31st for the victim of that crash, 23-year-old William Bruckman. 

Court records show Jerry Newman has a preliminary hearing scheduled for July 12th on the charges.
