As the digital age develops, you might think video rental stores are dying, but many in Green Country still prefer renting a movie "the old-fashioned way."

For many folks, walking into a video store is like rewinding to a maybe simpler time one with fewer distractions.

"Their dad and I liked to come to the video store," said Claremore mother Stacey Limerick. "That's from our generation. We are old-school. Yeah, we are."

The video store is also a way to encourage family time and less 'device time'

"We try to get them away from their devices," Limerick said.

That's part of why Limerick and her family have made it a tradition to rent movies a few times a month.

There's more choices," said Limerick's 11-year-old son, Kyle.

And Limerick's kids love the video store.

"It's just not the same as on-demand. It's more fun," Limerick said.

But with options like OnDemand, Netflix or Redbox, in many cases, actual video rental stores are a thing of the past.

"Everything is going digital. We're the only brick and mortar left," said Family Video Manager Crystal Craig.

Craig manages the Family Video stores in Tulsa and Owasso. The company has 23 Oklahoma locations and is growing because she said business is better than ever.

"We have hundreds of people come in here a day," Craig said.

Owasso resident Bert Abla is one of the 'regulars.'

"We like to stay current on our movies," Abla said. "Every Friday."

Abla's family circles their top picks each week on a flyer before going in to rent them.

And let's not forget, at one particular video store, you can order a pizza to go with your movie.

"We sell more than movies or games, we sell an experience," Craig said.

So while some shops are shutting down, this one is not.

"We're not going anywhere," Craig said. "We're actually continuing to open new stores. So we're not going anywhere. We're gonna be here for a long time to come."
