Two Killed In Rogers County Crashes

Two people were killed in Rogers County weather-related crashes following Saturday's snow. 

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said a crash that killed a Jenks man on the Will Rogers Turnpike Saturday involved two pickup trucks and a snow plow. It happened just before 11 p.m. about two miles south of Verdigris. 

Troopers say that accident is still under investigation but say the cause is a combination of speed and the ice and snow on the road. 

Curtis Lee Cockrell of Jenks was standing outside of his truck because of another accident when he was killed. 

Jonathon Brady, 31, was driving the other pickup. The Tulsa man refused treatment at the scene. Charles Summers, 56, of Ketchum was in a Turnpike Authority snow plow. He also refused treatment at the scene.

In another crash - OHP says a 63-year-old man from Chelsea is dead after his pickup crashed and rolled on its side near state Highway 66 and County Road 390 at 3:47 p.m. Saturday, December 17, 2016.

Troopers say Carlos Earl Lewis wasn't wearing his seatbelt - and no one else was in the truck with him. The cause of that wreck is listed as unsafe speed for road conditions.
