Glenpool Police arrested a man they said ran from a fiery wreck on Highway 75 at 141st Street in Glenpool. Jackson Chance White is in Tulsa County Jail on numerous complaints including driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an injury accident, eluding, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest and drug possession.
The 35-year-old man is a convicted felon, court records show.
Glenpool Police say White was driving a truck on Highway 75 when he hit a car at 141st Street, causing it to crash into two other vehicles. One caught fire, trapping the driver.
Glenpool firefighters rescued the driver from the burning car. He was taken to the hospital with cuts and burns.
White took off, heading towards Bixby on 151st, according to an arrest report.
Glenpool Officers Matthew Graves and Charles Graham spotted White going eastbound on 151st Street. He refused to pull over and continued toward a neighborhood off 143rd and Harvard, police say.
Officers believed he was about to turn into a neighborhood that had children close to the entrance, so Graves stopped in front of White's pickup which hit the officer's car.
White then locked himself inside his pickup and refused to come out, Graves said in his arrest report. White finally unlocked the door and came out of the vehicle where he was taken into custody.
Police said they found morphine and marijuana in White's truck. White, also known as "Cueball," told police he was using meth, marijuana and Suboxon and was "too messed up to drive" and probably passed out.
