The 50th annual Peach Festival starts Thursday, and the folks at the Livesay Orchard in Porter said the crop is looking great.
People are hauling peaches out by the basketful. Kent Livesay said it's been a good season so far.
"The quality is so good, we wish we had more peaches,” he said.
The 50th anniversary of the Peach Festival begins Thursday, but on the orchard, it's kind of peach festival all the time.
"Season started in early June, and it lasts till after Labor Day," Livesay said.
There are so many peaches, and so many different kinds, but it’s not just peaches they’re after.
Livesay said, "We are harvesting watermelons now, tomatoes, squash, a little bit of okra, a few apples, nectarines and cantaloupe."
But peaches are the thing, and they are making all kinds of stuff with them - BBQ sauce and salsa, just to name a few.
The Porter Peach Festival runs through Saturday. You can find more information here.
