Grand Lake Death Investigated

Authorities are investigating a fatality at Grand Lake on Saturday.

GRDA Police Chief Brian Edwards confirms the death was on the Elk River arm of Grand Lake.  He says a man carrying building materials to down to a private boat dock apparently tripped, hit his head and fell into the lake.  The incident happened after noon.

He says GRDA Police have not called the death a drowning and believe the man may have died before he fell into the water.

Grand Lake is the site of the 2016 Bassmaster Classic which is in its second day of competition.  Edwards said the death was not connected to the fishing tournament.

The name of the man has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.
