Owasso Police arrested a 51-year-old Claremore man they say tried to hit an officer during a high-speed chase Thursday night.
Police said the chase began on Highway 169 just at about 11 p.m. and ended at the intersection of two Rogers County roads west of Claremore.
At one point, police said the driver, Myron Dee Sanders attempted to hit an officer who was putting out stop sticks near East 500 Road and South 4120 Road. They said Sander's car hit those stop sticks, losing control and crashing. Police said Sanders got out of the car and ran. They said he fought with officers and a police dog when they caught up with him. During the struggle, police said Sanders attempted to choke K9 officer Sampson.
Paramedics took the Myron Sanders to an Owasso hospital for minor injuries sustained in the crash and his arrest.
He was booked into jail on complaints of resisting an officer, mistreating a police dog, assault with a deadly weapon, eluding, running a road block, DUI and speeding.
Police said Sampson suffered no serious injuries from the altercation with Sanders.
