Union Soccer's Taylor Malham Chosen For National Training Camp

Union High School soccer standout Taylor Malham has been selected for the national soccer training camp for the U.S. Under-17 Women’s National Team.

“We are excited to have Taylor represent Union Athletics and Union Public Schools in such a prestigious event,” said Union Athletic Director Emily Barkley. “Taylor has a chance to do something unique for the state of Oklahoma and we wish her the very best during the training camp.”

The camp will be held in Sunrise, Florida, on December 5-12. It will be coached by B.J. Snow who became the first full-time hire in the head coaching position for the U.S. Under-17 women. Before accepting the position in 2013, Snow previously served as the head coach for the UCLA women’s soccer program (2011-2012). In his time with the Bruins, he led the team to an 18-3-2 record and a berth to the NCAA quarterfinals.

The Under-17s are over three months away from the next Women’s World Cup qualifying tournament. The 2016 CONCACAF Under-17 Women’s Championship will be played on the Caribbean island of Grenada on March 3-13. The tournament will send three teams to the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup which be played in Jordan in September.

The U-17 championship will showcase eight teams, three from North America, two from the Central American Football Union and three from the Caribbean Football Union. The U.S., Canada and Mexico are automatically qualified from North America. From the Central American Zone, Guatemala and Costa Rica qualified and from the Caribbean Zone, Jamaica and Haiti qualified.
