Grocery Store Opens Doors In Crystal City Neighborhood

A part of west Tulsa that hasn't had a grocery store in 25 years finally got one Tuesday.

Sav-A-Lot cut the ribbon on its new store in the Crystal City neighborhood.

That part of Tulsa, along Route 66 near 42nd and Southwest Boulevard, was considered a food desert. City Councilor Jeanne Cue said the new, veteran-owned store solves that problem and gives residents an affordable place to buy quality fresh food.

Cue said, "It'll have things they can walk along, buy their groceries, shop and enjoy their neighbors that they haven't seen for a while. So it's really going to be a community neighborhood center."

Cue said councilors are also working on getting another grocery store in north Tulsa.
