Police say a McAlester woman died early Thursday when she jumped out of a truck during a chase.

Officers said it all began at about 4 a.m. when police responded to a burglary call at the Nichols storage buildings in the 2400 block of South Main in McAlester. Police said Michael Crawley, 37, of McAlester used his dually pickup to ram Krebs and McAlester patrol cars then drove off.

Police said they chased Crawley's truck into rural Pittsburg County. They said a passenger in the truck identified as Amber Brewer, 34, also of McAlester, opened her door and attempted to jump out, but fell under the rear wheels of the truck. Police said she was pronounced dead at the scene.

The chase continued on until Crawley stopped near the Oklahoma State Penitentiary.

Police booked Crawley into the Pittsburg County jail on complaints of second-degree murder, assault with a dangerous weapon and numerous traffic violations.
