An Owasso man is in jail in the death of an 11-month-old Owasso girl, waiting to be extradited to Oklahoma from Kansas. Hutchinson Police and U.S. Marshals arrested Brandon Wade Nordstedt at a relative's house around 10 p.m. Thursday, authorities say.
A jail official says the earliest an extradition hearing could take place is Friday.
Emmy O'Rourke died in July from a brain injury, according to court records. Detectives gathered evidence and the district attorney charged Nordstedt with her death August 20. A judge issued a warrant for his arrest.
"He was alone with the victim at the time and the investigation pointed to him as far as our belief that he is responsible for those injuries," said Owasso Police Chief, Scott Chambless.

Chambless said they wanted to be very thorough in their investigation to make sure they had what was needed to charge Nordstedt in the infant's death. Nordstedt, 22, was dating Emmy's mother, police say.
"We're seeking justice in this case, but it's still going to be a long road to go down," said Deputy Chief Jason Woodruff. "But it is satisfying to know he is in custody."
Deputy Chief Woodruff also told us they could ask the District Attorney to add more charges later, but the child abuse murder charge is the one they're most confident in right now.
