Tulsa's first TV weatherman is in the hospital. 89-year-old Harry Volkman was KOTV's meteorologist from 1950 to 1952.
Volkman got his weather information from a shortwave radio in Morse Code, translated it and drew the weather maps.
He was the first person to ever issue a tornado warning on television.
His family isn't releasing many details about his illness, but they say they will in a couple of days.
Volkman's career eventually took him to Chicago where he worked as a weatherman for nearly 45 years.
