Geyser Is Latest Water Main Break In Tulsa

A water main break near 41st and Garnett sent water shooting 40 feet in the air Wednesday afternoon. 

The geyser shot out of the ground near the curb in the front yard of a house for several minutes until a city crew could shut off the water.

It made an already hectic day for the Tulsa Water Department even busier. The department reported more than 35 water main breaks across the city Wednesday morning. 

The city says workers have been out since Tuesday repairing a number of the breaks and additional workers are expected to be called in as more breaks are added to the list.

The city says the cause of most of the breaks is the age of the pipes and the changing weather conditions.
