A Muskogee County jailer is behind bars on a complaint of bringing contraband into the jail.
The sheriff's office said Nathan Benally, 20, was arrested Thursday after deputies received numerous tips of him selling items to inmates.
Deputy Tyler Mohr told MuskogeeNow, they developed information Benally had brought a substance resembling marijuana inside the jail. They believe he may have been selling other controlled drugs and cell phones to the inmates as well.
After he was questioned Benally was searched and arrested. The sheriff's office said Benally had only been a jailer for about a month.
Nathan Benally was also booked in jail on complaints of possession of drug proceeds, possession of a controlled and dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
