Police said a security guard at a south Tulsa apartment complex shot a man who ran into him with a car Wednesday evening.
Sergeant Dave Walker said the 21-year-old man who was shot is in ICU and is expected to survive with possible paralysis. Police also said they have interviewed a female who is under 18.
Officers got the call just after 8:30 p.m. of shots fired at the Deerfield Estates Apartments in the 8800 block of South Delaware. When officers arrived, they found a Pontiac Grand Prix which had hit a tree in the complex and a security guard performing CPR on the driver.
Sgt. Walker said the security guard told them he had discovered a man and woman in the Grand Prix having sex.
Police said when the guard asked for an ID, the driver backed up the car, hitting the guard and knocking him onto the trunk. The guard told police his hand broke the rear window.
According to police, he fired three shots as the car drove away, with one shot hitting the driver in the neck. The car then hit a tree. The girl got out and ran away and later police were able to speak with her, although details have not been released.
Police also have not released the man's identity.
Walker said the security guard was released pending the presentation of charges to the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office.
Sgt. Walker said anyone with information about the shooting should call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
