TULSA, Oklahoma - A McAlester police officer making a traffic stop was injured by a suspected drunk driver early Sunday. It happened just before 12:30 a.m. near Main and South Street, according to Sergeant Chris Morris with the McAlester Police Department.
Morris says during the traffic stop a truck slammed into the side of Bedford's patrol car and then hit Bedford, pinning him against the car he had originally stopped. Bedford was able to free himself.
He was taken to the hospital, treated and released for what is believed to be a hairline fracture in his shoulder.
Felix Tate, 34, was arrested on a complaint of driving under the influence.
