Officials behind A Gathering Place for Tulsa say more than 80 different species of trees will be planted as the plans for a world-class park are realized.

They're using a Tulsa company - Preaus Landscape - to oversee the planting of more than 4,380 trees during the park's construction. Brothers Bill and Ken Preaus have more than 35 years of experience in landscaping, a news release states.

“Preserving these existing trees and combining them with the amount and variety of new trees to be planted, is going to make A Gathering Place one of the most unique and beautifully forested areas in Oklahoma and the region," Bill Preaus said.

"When the 66.5 acre Phase I of A Gathering Place is completed, more than 80 different species of trees will surround the area," a news release states. Phase I is expected to be complete by late 2017.

Some of the species that will be planted include white oaks, weeping willows, sugar maples, American sweetgums and accolade elms. Trees will also be removed from the area, but an estimate 400 will be preserved on the Blair property site.
