A woman was arrested for driving under the influence after officers say she drove off the road to get around a barricade set up around a serious accident scene.

Woman Arrested For Driving Around Tulsa Police Barricade At Wreck

A woman was arrested after officers say she drove off the road to get around a barricade set up around a serious accident scene. Lawana McDaniel was booked on complaints of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving through barriers.

"A little bit of alcohol and unfortunately a normal human instinct to go the way you always go led to her coming down a road that was closed and almost running over the first responders that were out here trying to preserve the scene, conduct an investigation and provide treatment for victims, so yeah it's a very scary deal," said Corporal Jason Muse.

Police had shut down 71st Street at the bridge because of bad wreck. Officers say a driver crossed the center line and hit one vehicle, the a second vehicle.

Five people were taken to the hospital - one of them was in critical condition.

McDaniel, 60, was booked into Tulsa County Jail. Her daughter, who was a passenger in the car, was arrested for public intoxication.

As for the cause of the initial crash, traffic investigators are working to piece that together.
