Police arrested a 17 year old in connection with the shooting death of a Muskogee 18 year old early Thursday morning.
Investigators worked the crime scene in a back alley near one of the city’s busiest intersections. Police were at the scene for nearly 12 hours investigating the homicide.
Police said 18-year-old D'Angelo Grayson was killed and 17-year-old, Keenen Major was found near the car when police arrived. Investigators spent much of the day questioning him.
Officials said Major was arrested and booked into the Muskogee County Detention Facility on complaints of first-degree murder and will be charged at an adult.
"I think it's very upsetting, distressing," said one Muskogee resident.
The resident couldn't believe the scene near her home Thursday morning, just a few blocks down from the busy Highway 69 and Okmulgee Street intersection.
"I'm sorry for whoever was killed, their parents," the resident said.
Police said they got a call about a shooting behind her home.
Corporal Michael Mahan with the Muskogee Police Department, said, "Our officers arrived on scene, went to the alleyway behind the residence and located a male who appeared to be suffering from a gunshot inside a vehicle,"
Mahan said the two teens knew each other.
“This appears that this was between two individuals that did know each other it doesn't appear to be anything that was random," Mahan said.
Police said the reason behind the shooting is under investigation and they will release more details as they become available.
