The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says one person has died in a head-on crash on Highway 48 in Creek County early Monday.

OHP says the crash happened about two miles north of Highway 33 southwest of Mannford at about 6:30 a.m.

Troopers said Russell Foutch, 47 of Cushing, was driving his 2007 Dodge truck northbound and for an unknown reason crossed over into the southbound lanes hitting a 2012 Ford truck driven by Tilman Palmer, 76.

Palmer died in the crash. Foutch was taken to the hospital in serious condition with injuries to his head, mid-section, arm and legs.

The crash closed the highway for a short time.

OHP says air bags deployed in both vehicles but neither man was using a seatbelt.
