Eight Green Country high schools battled it out "Hunger Games"-style Friday, but with an engineering twist and without the death.
Tulsa Alliance for Engineering hosted the Engineering Games at Tulsa Community College to test students' design and engineering skills.
They had to solve a four-part problem using limited supplies. Organizers hope these types of events will allow more students to explore the engineering field.
"I hope that students who never thought about engineering become interested in it," said coordinator Xan Black. "Because a lot of times kids are intimidated, thinking you have to be a super math genius. But really, engineering is problem solving."
Students also participated in a reaping ceremony, as well as mentor selection to help guide them, just like in the books and films.
