2-Year-Old Boy Dies After Being Hit By Car Near 61st And Peoria

A 2-year-old boy hit by a car Monday night in Tulsa has died.

Police say a man and woman and the boy were struck while leaving the Warehouse Market near East 61st Street and South Peoria Avenue at about 7:30 p.m.

Police say the 2-year-old was transported to St. Francis hospital in critical condition and died several hours later. There is no word on the condition of the two adults.

The scene of the incident was littered with debris, including a damaged stroller lying in the street.

The driver has not been cited by police. Investigators said the female driver was going south on Peoria and didn't see the pedestrians crossing the dark street until it was too late.

Sgt. Lance Eberle said it didn't appear the driver was speeding or intoxicated, and that the high volume of foot traffic and the lighting in the area were both likely factors.
