Firefighters in McAlester have a new contract Tuesday night, and they're making less than they did before, but not by as much as it could have been.
The city found McAlester's fire crews were overpaid compared to other in cities their size.
City leaders have been battling the fire unions for the past two years about how much to cut.
Because they couldn't reach an agreement, the issue went to voters.

Tuesday, voters sided with the union, and a contract that's cut by less than 1%. The city of McAlester's proposal cut the contract by 7%.
