Smoke from wildfires in southwestern New Mexico has made its way into Oklahoma.
The Whitewater and Baldy wildfire complex in New Mexico is clouding the skies of Oklahoma Thursday.
New Mexico officials say approximately 435 personnel are currently assigned to fighting the fire. Both fires were started by lightning.
News On 6 meteorologist Michael Grogan says the smoke has traveled hundreds of miles to reach Oklahoma thanks to the wind flow higher up in the atmosphere.
The fires are uncontained so they will likely continue to burn for some time.
Grogan says in between breaks in the clouds Thursday you may be able to notice the haze caused by the smoke.
