At noon on Friday, the Osage Nation officially assumes control of the Wah-Sha-She State Park in northeastern Osage County.
In early 2011, the state park located on the shores of Hulah Lake faced closure due to a lack of funding.
On Tuesday, Osage Nation principal chief John Red Eagle signed a contract assuming control of the park.

Red Eagle believes this endeavor will have a long-term positive impact on the tribe.
"Taking over this park falls directly in line with the Osage Nation's 25-year strategic plan," Red Eagle said. "This first step with the Corps of Engineers will without a doubt spur economic development in the area, and it will improve the overall quality of life for Osage County residents."
Wah-Sha-She Park is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Red Eagle says the tribe's relationship with the Corps of Engineers will prove to be beneficial for all parties involved.
"We think this effort with the Corps of Engineers and relieving the State of Oklahoma of these duties will have a long-lasting, positive impact on the Osage Nation," Red Eagle said.
