A line of severe storms moving through Oklahoma Sunday morning caused damages in east Cherokee County and west Adair country.

A rapidly-forming tornado within the line of thunderstorm activity swept through the mostly rural area between 9:20 and 9:55 a.m., according to News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone.

"It was probably shrouded in a curtain of rain," Crone said.

Cherokee County Emergency Management reports damage to homes and outbuildings, as well as heavy tree damage.

Cherokee Landing, Etta Bend and Eldon - southeast of Tahlequah - are also reporting damage from the tornado.
