The Osage Nation and the town of Skiatook cut the ribbon Thursday on a $2 million road project.
The project widens a stretch of Oak Street to three lanes. It also adds more than 3,000 feet of sidewalk.
It's a welcome improvement for the community, especially for Skiatook Junior High and the Osage Nation Head Start program, which fall inside the project zone.
"It's one of the most important things, I think, we can do as a department and as a local government is getting kids safely to and from school," said RJ Walker, Osage Nation Roads Director.
