OU’s Garrett Buechele Earns Preseason Honor

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma’s Garrett Buechele was named to the 2011 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American team.

The Sooners’ third baseman picked up third team honors after batting .359 last season, helping to lead his team to the its first Men’s College World Series appearance since 1995.

Buechele was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association preseason team earlier this week and joins Texas’ Taylor Jungmann and Cole Green and Texas A&M’s John Stilson in the pair of honors.

Buechele’s 2010 sophomore season included 94 hits, 17 home runs and 65 RBI. The 2011 Big 12 baseball season opens February 18.
