Oral Roberts Drops First Game of Season

The Golden Eagles fell to Missouri State in both teams’ season openers.

SPRINGFIELD, Missouri -- Kyle Weems scored 16 points, leading five players in double figures, and Missouri State defeated Oral Roberts 78-61 Friday night in the season opener for both.

Will Creekmore added 15 points, Jermaine Mallett and Adam Leonard each had 12 and Nafis Ricks finished with 10 for the Bears who led the entire game.

Dominique Morrison scored a team-high 21 points for the Golden Eagles, and Steven Roundtree had 14.

Missouri State opened the game on a 20-9 run, led by at least eight the rest of way and by as many as 20.

Ricks had a game-high eight rebounds, helping the Bears to a 36-29 rebounding advantage.
