TULSA, Oklahoma -- Tulsa cruised to a 92-39 victory over Jackson State in the preliminary round of the 2009 Las Vegas Classic. Ben Uzoh had a game-high 22 points.
The rout was on from the beginning as the Golden Hurricane (8-1) jumped out to a 15-2 lead in the first five minutes of action. Tyrone Hanson’s 3-pointer at the 9:55 brought the Tigers (0-8) to within seven points, which was as close to a possible victory as Jackson State got.
Justin Hurtt finished with 14 points for the Golden Hurricane while Steven Idlet added 11 points. Joe Richard grabbed 10 rebounds for Tulsa.
The Golden Hurricane will face Chicago State Saturday night at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
