Oklahoma Sports Staff WriterBIRMINGHAM, Alabama – Dr. James Andrews performed surgery on Sam Bradford’s right shoulder Wednesday morning, and the procedure went as planned.
The operation began at 10:10 a.m. and took less than an hour to complete. Bradford was back in his hospital room just after noon.
Bradford’s father, Kent, told Oklahoma Sports Sports Director Dean Blevins that Dr. Andrews said the surgery went well and there were no complications.
“Dr. Andrews came by the room before he left for the evening and confirmed to Sam everything went perfect,” Kent Bradford said. “Please pass along our thanks for all the many folks who expressed their thoughts and prayers for Sam.”
Kent also said that Sam will engage in some light throwing Thursday morning to test the strength of his arm. If everything goes according to plan, the Bradfords hope to return to Oklahoma Thursday afternoon.
“The report we got was that everything went about as well as it could and obviously we're very happy for Sam and his family,” head coach Bob Stoops said. “We look forward to getting him back in Norman so that we can assist with his recovery and rehabilitation.”
Bradford announced Monday that he was going to undergo season-ending surgery, and he said if the surgery went well he would enter the NFL Draft after this season.
