TULSA, OK -- It is dangerously hot and it seems like everywhere you turn the recommendation is to drink more water.
There's no shortage of this refreshing liquid and so News On 6 Reporter Rick Wells found it a bit odd that there's a successful business in Tulsa that, for more than a decade, has sold customers water.
This summer there is no shortage of water, in fact that's the case in most years.
For 11 years Art Fenrich has made a successful business out of selling folks tap water.
"It starts as tap water but this is what it takes to make Tulsa's water taste good," he said.
Fenrich said it's much more than just tap water. They take the minerals out, they de-ionize it, carbon filter, reverse osmosis it, and then filter it again.
"We take everything out they leave in," Fenrich said.
Or what they leave in that shouldn't be there. Fenrich said it's like your corner bar that dispenses water. And it's B.Y.O.B., bring your own refillable bottle. Of course if you don't have one, they'll sell you one of theirs.
"I really like it," said Julie Vaughan.
Julie Vaughan has been a customer for years and said she uses it for almost everything.
Lots of folks drink flavored water, nowadays. In the comic strip "Blondie," Dagwood's drinking meat-flavored water, Wienerschnitzel he says. Water on the Run doesn't have flavored water but they're thinking about it.
"I think we should come up with bacon flavored water," Fenrich said. "Bacon, everything's better with bacon, even water would be."
Until there's that, there'll just have to be this.
Water on the Run is located at 51st and Memorial in Tulsa.
