CREEK COUNTY -- Three momma dogs and their 16 puppies were dumped at the end of a dirt road in Creek County recently.
Carol Lawrence runs a shelter for abandoned animals at the end of Honeybear Lane in Kellyville. Creek Pet Adoption is the new home of the three families of dogs.
Lawrence's no-kill shelter serves as the shelter for Kellyville and Mounds. So, the dogs are there until they find homes.
So far one of the moms and seven of the puppies have been adopted.
Jazz Wilson is a Kellyville High School junior who has formed a group at school called Teens and Rescues.
"I just have a blast," said Jazz Wilson.
Periodically, the students go play with the dogs to give them exercise and help get them socialized.
"That's just sad. I can't believe somebody dumped all these puppies," said Wilson.
Lawrence thinks it was someone who had the three un-spayed females, then there were 16 puppies. Lawrence figures someone dumped the dogs down the road because they knew she was there.
"We are very fortunate to have people come out and play with them. And several adults, they come out on Saturdays," said Carol Lawrence, Creek Pet Adoption.
Lawrence has run the shelter since the late 80's. She has horses out here too. They probably wish it were quieter, otherwise they don't seem to mind sharing space.
You can see all of the animals Carol Lawrence has up for adoption at the shelter on her web site.
