A group of residents in south Tulsa are angry about plans to build a Target Super Center in their neighborhood.
Homeowners plan to appeal the decision at Thursday night's Tulsa City Council meeting.
A Target Super Center is supposed to be built at the intersection of 101st and Memorial. The store will anchor the new South Town Market Development. But some homeowners in the Ridgepoint Neighborhood want to throw those plans overboard.
Residents say the big box store violates zoning restrictions and would cause big traffic, safety and drainage problems.
Homeowners also oppose proposed changes for increased parking, the height of the building and how far back the store will be from the street. They say the new Target will be too close to single family homes behind it.
And that's not all. Opponents say they've been mislead about the project. Residents say they moved to the area because of the promise that an upscale retail and office space development would soon follow. Some of them even started calling it 'Utica Square South'.
Opponents, led by the Ridgepoint Neighborhood Association, say they are not against development, they just want it to be done correctly.
The Tulsa City Council will hear the appeal and could even vote on the future of the project at Thursday's meeting.
