NEW YORK (AP) _ A 24-foot fishing boat collided with a barge and overturned off Coney Island, killing two men and injuring two others, authorities said Sunday.
A tugboat, which was navigating the barge through the Ambrose Channel, reported the collision about 11 p.m. Saturday.
A 61-year-old man was rescued by a passing fishing vessel, and a 46-year-old man was pulled from under the overturned craft by police scuba divers, police said. Both were in stable condition at hospitals, officials said.
A 47-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and a 43-year-old man was declared dead later, police said.
The Coast Guard was investigating. It was not immediately clear who owned the barge.
