MIDWEST CITY (AP) -- Many Tinker Air Force Base employees had to find a new route to work Monday morning after part of a main road to the base collapsed.
A hole about four feet deep, three feet wide and four feet long was discovered by police in the southbound lanes of South Douglas Boulevard between Southeast 15 and Southeast 29 about 3 p.m. Sunday, police Chief Brandon Clabes said.
The road was expected to be impassable for several days.
City engineer Derick Jackson said groundwater was thought to have eroded soil underneath that section of roadway.
